Biostatistician

This senior level position serves as a Biostatistician for the DoD, HHS and other related business area agencies.

Primary Role

The Biostatistician will provide statistical support, including survey design and sample selection, plan data collection and analyses and internet numerical data from experiments, studies, surveys and other sources and apply statistical methodology to provide information for scientific research and statistical analysis. Other duties may be assigned. Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the design, conduct and analysis of epidemiological studies
  • Functioning as statistical expert in sampling and data analysis in health-related team environments
  • Identifying biases, weaknesses and limitations of studies
  • Preparing technical reports and studies for lay audiences with little assistance
  • Preparing presentation of findings to scientific audiences with little assistance
  • Publishing findings in peer-reviewed literature with help from a Senior Epidemiologist
  • Assisting in the development of new business in government agencies and private sector

Knowledge

  • A Ph.D. Degree in Biostatistics and at least five years of experience or a master’s degree and up to 15 years experience in the design, conduct and analysis of epidemiological studies
  • Expert knowledge of SAS and Sudaan programming skills
  • Expertise in analyzing large and complex databases
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in publication and preparation of scientific reports a plus
  • Experience presenting to scientific audiences and community a plus
  • Knowledge of TRICARE benefit, TRICARE Management Activity, and/or military a plus.
